Gül Baba

A Bektashi dervish buried in Buda. There are no exact data about his life. According to Evlia Cselebi he died in 1541, when Buda was occupied. Supposedly, his coffin was carried by Sultan Suleyman the Great (I), himself. His monastery was surely standing in the middle of the 16th century, it was the most significant monastery in Buda. Only the Turbe (tomb) was preserved.
