civis

The wealthy population of boroughs - of peasant origin - who lived on farming. People who owned land lived in the town. Although each of these people had their homestead and grazing grounds, only their servants and newly married couples moved to the country. They earned their living from animal husbandry and farming. They used the word civis mostly in Debrecen, Nagykorös, Kecskemét and Hódmezovásárhely by peasants.
