nona (Latin, ninth)

Coat of arms of the Adorján family
The ninth tithe of products. It was a tax villeins had to pay to their landlords after certain products (mainly grain and wine). While the ninth was received by landlords, a tithe was given to the Catholic church. It has to be mentioned, however, that in spite of laws landlords did not collect the ninth, but a defined amount of grain - independent of the crop - in several regions of the country.
