census

The annual sum of money - we can call it 'land rent'- paid to the landlord by the villeins in return of using the land. This was paid by villeins long before the Turkish occupation. The sum was forwarded to the landlord in two or three parts, and it depended on the size of the land plot (whether it was a whole land plot or just a half or a quarter of it).
