house tax
A type of tax paid in the second half of the 15th century to finance the common needs of castle districts. From the next century it became rather general. Besides peasants noblemen who owned a piece of land or a charter of nobility (armalis) also paid it. Castle districts financed the expenses of ministers sent to the meetings of parliament and the salaries of clerks from this money. Sometimes donations were offered from this source to Christian prisoners escaping from Turkish captivity to pay for their ransom.
