paper
The first Hungarian paper mill was established in Lőcse at the beginning of the 16th century - implying Polish technology. The paper mill of Brassó started to work in 1546. Gáspár Heltai used this paper for his first prints, but later, when the Lutheran Brassó refused to provide paper to the Unitarian Kolozsvár, Heltai built a paper mill himself in 1564. The Transylvanian principals supported the establishment of paper-making workshops. István Báthori gave permission to set up the paper mill of Talmács-Szeben in 1573 and it could sell its products throughout Transylvania.
