A mill which used the energy of rivers and other passable waters. They were fixed to boats and other floating objects, which were anchored or tied to the bank so that they could use the power of the flow of water the best. From among water mills the advantage of boat mills was that it could change its position in accordance with the flow of water. Its disadvantage was that in winter they had to be taken to safe ports or hauled up onto the land.
