gingerbread
A decorated cake made of flour, honey and sugar syrup. In the workshop of the gingerbread maker master there were three kinds of cake: gingerbread - the most typical - made of honey, flour and sugar syrup. The batter is put into a wooden tub, where it is mixed, then it is kneaded, stretched and placed into a reverse wooden shape. For baking different, so-called, baking ovens were used. In these ovens the batter (made of sugar syrup) is baked, which were previously cut with different metal cake cutters. After baking the cakes were painted red, and decorated with red batter (ejz). The most typical forms were multi-colour mirrors and hearts made of red batter. Other typical cakes were spicy batters of different shapes, round honey cakes and log-shaped salty rolls.
