oil processor

Oilmaker
It was a place where oil was pressed out from oily seeds. The equipping and running of an oil processor became a separate branch of millers. The process itself started with the breaking and crushing of oily seeds. They broke the seeds with an instrument rotated by foot (on the Székelyland). Rotating rollers were more generally used for this purpose. In a trough or a stone plate millstones were rotated (on their sides). It was operated by water power or animal power. The broken seeds were mixed with water and they were roasted while stirring. The roasted mass - ready for pressing - was placed into a fixed frame or a cut out wooden trough, then a pressing panel was put on the mass and it was pressed with the help of wedges. Thus the oil between the fibres was pressed out and dripped out of the mass.
