masterpiece
The most important stipulation in the regulation of guilds was the criteria of a masterpiece. The masterpiece to be prepared was usually appointed from among products that required greater skills. The preparations, the quality of material to be used, the deadline and place for the preparation of the masterpiece were all specified. Masterpieces were jointly judged by the master-craftsmen of the guild. Young craftsmen were made to pay penalty for minor faults and to make an entirely new product for major ones.
