caftan

Janizary aga
Originally caftan had a symbolic meaning. When it was presented to someone, the receiver was endowed with power, or was introduced to his office. According to sources, mainly Transylvanian principals owned Turkish caftans. We have hardly any information about the occupied regions. There is a very interesting note in the book of records for the town of Kecskemét in 1668-1669, which reported that in 1596 the citizens of the town were given a "golden apron", which protected them from evil things. This short note inspired Kálmán Mikszáth to write his short story "The Talking Apron".
