György Káldy (1573-1634)
He was a Jesuit Bible translator and an ecclesiastical writer. He studied in Rome. He started to translate the Holy Scripture several times. The first manuscript was finished around 1605-1608, its fragments were found in the bindings of books from Esztergom and Vác. Supposedly he used a medieval Bible translation as a source, which was close to the text of the Jordánszky codex. The publishing of his Holy Bible (Vienna, 1626) was supported by Calvinist principal, Gábor Bethlen.
