Biblical stories

It was a popular Protestant poetic genre: we know about 63 pieces from the 16th century. They contain the interesting, sometimes risque proverbs of the Bible, especially the Old Testament, in a poetic form. The stories of Abigail, Esther, David and Bethsabe, Abraham, Job and Jonas were written in verse by contemporary Protestant poets.
