heretic (Greek hairesis - separation)

According to the teaching of the Catholic church a heretic was a person who believed in things not taught by the church. Heretical teachings appeared in the church quite early, usually in connection with the Holy Trinity and Christ being God and in the question of salvation. Sometimes there were heretical teachings on the reason for the existence of the church.
