Buchanan, George (1506-1582)

George Buchanan
He was a Scottish reformer. His Latin psalm paraphrases were widespread in the Protestant world, and his psalm poems were translated by Bálint Balassi and János Rimay. Buchanan's psalms became popular in Hungary from the 1580s, first they were mentioned in a bookseller, Hans Gallen's catalogue in Kassa in 1583 as Psalter Buchanani.
