Antichrist

A mythical figure from the Revelations of the Bible, Christ's negative double, who appears in the times preceding Judgement Day. With his miraculous deeds he beguiles people, and at the same time damns them. In the Middle Ages there were a lot of the Reformation. In the apocalyptic historic view of Protestantism the Antichrist is a symbolic, existing force, who works on his followers damnation in the times before Doomsday. Luther identified him with the Pope of Rome or the Turkish Emperor, or both. According to him, the Turkish ruler was the body of the Antichrist while the Pope was the soul. Influenced by teachings in Wittenberg, almost all outstanding figures of the Hungarian reformation wrote essays on the Antichrist, the first of them beings Imre Ozorai, who dedicated a whole book to this topic.
