Miklós Bogáti Fazekas (1548 - after 1598)He was a Transylvanian Unitarian poet. He was one of Ferenc Dávid's followers, so after his fall in 1579 he was forced to flee. At first he taught in Pécs (in the occupied region), then he returned to his homeland. He supported the idea of keeping the Old Testament laws which were not cancelled by the New Testament - for example celebrating the Jewish Sabbath. His most important theological work was The Explanation of Apocalypse (1589). There is no modern edition of his poetic works, the majority of his poems and prosaic works are unpublished. His book of psalms (around 1587-1589) was spread in Unitarian and Sabbatist manuscript, it shows the richness of verse forms of 16th-century songs. ÁP-SzJú |
