Solomon's and Markalf's pleasantry

Salamon és Markalf históriája
A popular book throughout Europe which was translated into Hungarian from the original German and printed (first in Kolozsvár in 1577). Apparently Markalf was the biblical king Solomon's court jester - or according to the folk tradition the jester of the Hungarian king Solomon, - who either annoyed or cheered the king up with his funny but sometimes vulgar jokes. Markalf's jokes and wisely eccentric sayings were often quoted similarly to the tales of Esopus.
