acrostic

Text hidden in the first letters of the verse (or verse lines) - it makes sense when read together. Poems are known that contain the have acrostic in hundreds of verses. Similarly to the colophon, the acrostic often refers to the author of the poem, the person it was addressed to, or the circumstance surrounding the writing of the poem.
