Attila

The permanent figure in Hungarian royal mirrors, the ideal great and just national ruler. Since the Middle Ages Attila was considered the first significant Hungarian ruler, the idea originated from the common Hun-Hungarian identity. He was often compared with King Matthias, who was often referred to as "the second Attila". Zrínyi also considered the Hun leader the first Hungarian king, in his epic poem he referred to him in a covert form.
