Siren

Mythological character that can be a bird-bodied and female-headed creature (Odüsszeia), however Zrínyi's version - as it can be seen on the cover page - has the body of a fish with a human head. Sirens fascinate the audience by their singing which makes their character a favourite of poets. The female siren was not always present in the world of Baroque symbols: it often appeared as an allegory of the poet.
