epithalamium
A poem written on the occasion of a marriage, which was based on humanist traditions. The subject of Gyöngyösi's most famous works was the marriage of his patrons. He was the master of making exaggerated love stories into the size of an epic poem out of these marriages of convenience with the help of mythological pictures, "old fabulous things" and "creative appendages" (as he called his stylistic tools).
