The traditional musical instrument of the Turks, frequently mentioned in legends. It might have been a long-necked lute cut out from a single piece of wood. Two or three strings - made of animal bowels - were stretched onto it. Csögür was different from this in size only. The sestar and tanbur were other versions of it with metal strings.
