Hassan Asik Gazi Temesvarli

Remarkable poet of the Turkish-occupied territories from the second half of the 17th century, who lived in Temes-köz. When his military service came to an end he began to cultivate watermelon as a result of which he was also referred to as the Big Melon Granddad Hassan. In his poems he mourns the loss of the occupied areas.
