murabba

A poem containing four-line verses. It was very popular in Turkish poetry, maybe because it had close ties with the traditional Turkish kosma-form. Its rhyme pattern was the following: aaaa bbba ccca ... or aaaA bbbA cccA ... It was the most popular in the 16-17th century, then its popularity was superceeded by the shorter, simpler sarki, the Turkish song, which was similar to this.
