liturgical object

An object used during ecclesiastical liturgies. There were strict regulations for the material and decoration of some liturgical objects, such as the chalice and the paten. For some others, for example, chasubles, regulations were less prescriptive. The Protestants used far fewer liturgical objects than the Catholics.
