sgrafitto

A method of architectural decoration in the course of which the wall is covered by (at least two) layers of differently coloured plastering, then the upper layer is scraped off according to the design to reveal the layer(s) below. The sgrafitto technique played an important part in the decoration of Late Renaissance Hungarian architecture.
