It was the most popular and sophisticated form of classical music, of which is no longer heard. It was usually sung in Persian. It was quite interesting that there were several additional elements (terennüm) besides the text. These either referred to the rhythm or they are exclamation, or short turns (for example, my darling; oh, my soul; I'll sacrifice myself for you...).
