Winkler codex (1506)
The codex, which was made in 1506, was taken to Nagyvárad, then Nagyszombat, then Pozsony, to the Clarissan convent - together with other books and church equipment - by the Dominican nuns who were escaping from the Turks. After the dissolution of the monastic orders it was taken to Michael Winkler, the parish priest of Bonyhád at that time (later the honorary canon of Pécs). Later he presented the codex to Budapest University Library together with other manuscripts. The codex received its name from the donator.
