St Dominic
He was born to a rich noble family around 1170 in Caleruaga, Spain. When he finished his studies he became a priest. He gave up his church position and founded a monastic order. His order, which is also called the "order of preachers", dealt with teaching, preaching and converting heretics. The monastic order was officially approved by Pope Honorius III in 1216. Sermones Dominicales
The earlier version of the two collections of sermons, the Budapest codex from 1456, was taken to the Budapest University Library from one of libraries of the dissolved monastic orders. The later version, the Németújvár codex from 1470, was found in the Paulian monastery of Németújvár by a historian, László Fejérpataky. It has been kept there ever since.
