late classic Gothic style
Gothic style which was wide-spread throughout France by the 1270s. Forms which were created in the first half of the century developed in two directions. In the north we can see the sophistication of the world of forms: difficult disings played a very important role here. The whole surface of the walls was covered with stone bars. This model reached Central-Europe with the mediation of the cathedral of Cologne and Strassburg. However, in south France closed, unbroken surfaces and spacy, unified inner spaces were preferred. This type of Gothic style became wide-spread in Mediterranean territories.
