the parish church of Our Lady at Buda

The parish church of the Germans living in Buda received the title of royal chapel and it was the scene of Charles I's lying in state. It was built between 1249-1268. It was a three-nave basilica with a fake transcept and side chancels with straight closing. The southern tower of the church fell down in 1384. Reconstruction works must have been started after this . The new church hall with three polygonal chancels followed Austrian models and it had a great influence on the reconstruction works of the abbey of Garamszentbenedek, which were started at that time, too. Earlier Joseph Csemegi thought the reconstructions had been started in the 1360s, but the details of the church contradicted this. They proved that the church was built by an architectural workshop, which worked on the royal palace in the first quarters of the 15th century.

the parish church of Brasso (Black church)

The reconstructions of the 13th-century parish church of Brasso were started by the parish priest Thomas before 1385. First the chancel was made, the first donations for the altars were given in 1408-1409. They started building the nave probably at the beginning of the 15th century with the encouragement of parish priest Thomas, who was still living in 1413. In 1423 the building was still not finished. In 1689 a fire destroyed its vaults (since then it was called the Black church), then its inside was rebuilt, too. The chancel hall of the church follows 14th-century South German and Austrian models. The three-nave longitudinal house with its 5 decorated gates are reminiscent of the style of the St Elisabeth church of Kassa.
